LITERACY & EDUCATION
The Rural Community Development Program will expand the sustainable economic benefits of improved food production, literacy and vocational training for youth, adults, and disabled persons.
In three years from the start of this program at least 20 participating rural primary schools will demonstrate an increase in the proportion of girls in school attendance compared to current participation levels of girl children. This will be assisted by the provision of 100 school bursaries for girl children whose families lack the financial resources, or the inclination, to provide for girls school attendance.

Water Sector
The Rural Community Development Program has completed the first phase of identifying village water system needs by soliciting applications, on a standard form, from rural villages in the Northwest, Southwest and Western provinces of Cameroon. Forty-three (43) villages have applied for assistance in improving their water systems. The total direct population to be served is 117,000. The villages have committed to providing local materials, (sand, gravel, stones, etc.) and volunteer manual labour to dig trenches, lay pipes, build water catchment areas under supervision.
Literacy & Education
The Program will train 100 community leaders in improved nutrition and those leaders will then provide local training sessions for approx. 2500 rural village dwellers in improved nutrition in the daily diet.

-
The Blind Centre was responsible to arrange the expansion of the poultry house with funds external to the project and to date 2,500 cement blocks have been made and the expanded poultry facility is 40% complete.
